Oh, Maybe I ©clay howard Maybe I could have held on tighter Maybe I could have said it just a little better Oh, Maybe I Maybe I could have let the world know Maybe I could have just let it show Oh, Maybe I been so long since I seen my baby now..winter came along and left me a little crazy my world slipped away and all I can blame is me Maybe we could have just said those words Maybe we could have been less self serving Oh, Maybe I Maybe we could have just let it all show Maybe we could have let the world know Oh, Maybe I been so long since I seen my baby now..winter came along and left me a little crazy my world slipped away and all I can blame is me Time can be a real thief It always seems time is sneaking up behind me Oh, Maybe I When it comes to the things that really matter My broken heart it couldn't be any sadder Oh, Maybe I Maybe we could have held on tighter Maybe we could have said it all a little better Oh, Maybe I

Who told you that we were through What makes you think the end is coming true You really don't know what to do Who told you that I would stay What makes you think today is judgement day You really ought to run away Tossin' & turnin' Livin' & learnin' What's a poor girl to do When I wise up Open my eyes up I'll be done with you Who told you that I was sad What makes you think I might be coming back You really don't know what you had Who told you that you were right What makes you think you won't be alone tonight You really are a sorry sight Tossin' & turnin' Livin' & learnin' What's a poor girl to do When I wise up Open my eyes up I'll be done with you Who told you that I was wrong What makes you think I won't be gone too long You really are a sad sad song Tossin' & turnin' Livin' & learnin' What's a poor girl to do When I wise up Open my eyes up I'll be done with you (2x) Who told you to tell those lies What makes you think I wouldn't realize You really ought to run & hide

My love, left me at the station My love, left me in the rain My love, never gave a reason My love, is pain My love, was the one I wished 4 My love, was every sunny day My love, a light that shines forever My love, won't fade It was only a moment That lasted so long Your touch was a blessing Your whisper a song I knew that I loved you But now I've been wronged My love, is moving on My love, should take nothing for granted My love, is waiting by the door My love, is looking for that someone My love, is wanting more My love, is wanting more

Snake Skin Dress She’ll never know, It’ll be alright While she’s away, just for one night We’ll go out dancin’ and dress to impress You wear a suit, I’ll wear my snake skin dress Black snake skin dress It fit’s me just right Serves every curve as I walk through the night I see you lookin’, You know you want a treat I’ve got some candy in this tangled web I weave You know I’ll never confess In my snake skin dress I’ll never tell, like the other girls that sing What she don’t know, it’ll stay just you and me Now just relax, come up and have a drink My sultry slither’s not so pretty in pink Black snake skin dress It fit’s me just right Serves every curve as I walk through the night I see you lookin’, You know you want a treat I’ve got some candy in this tangled web I weave You know I’ll never confess In my snake skin dress SOLO I ain’t like the devil with that red dress on We’re here now we can have our fun And then you know that I’ll be gone Black snake skin dress It fit’s me just right Serves every curve as I walk through the night I see you lookin’, You know you want a treat I’ve got some candy in this tangled web I weave You know I’ll never confess In my snake skin dress You know I’ll never confess In my snake skin dress

Lap of luxury Means so very much to me First class dinners Silver spoon at birth Lap of luxury Blinded by nobility All good sinners Crash down to earth V1 Came from the bottom, made it to the top Clawed and scratched for every scrap I got Lots of good men, were trampled for the cause Lovers lane, broken hearts par, for the course Summertime blues, thousand dollar shoes Martini's in private jets Diamonds never big enough Bet and lose it all for fun VIP, til they found out about me C2 Lap of luxury Meant so very much to me Black stretch limos Billion dollars worth Lap of luxury Only shop at Tiffany's All good sinners Crash down to earth Didn't know how good I had it Caught up in the mouse and cat Outside looking in from the attic My futures looking grim without him V2 Knew in the end, it would come back to bite me The drama, the scheming, the treachery Close calls and lawsuits, Skeletons in closets The devil loves his prodigy Heartbreak and pain Riding on the blue train Replace my penthouse for a cell Rather be blessed, then shabbily dressed Guess that means I'll see u in hell C3 Lap of luxury Meant so very much to me Black stretch limos Billion dollars worth Lap of luxury Only shop at Tiffany's All good sinners Crash down to earth Didn't know how good I had it Caught up in the mouse and cat Outside looking in from the attic My futures looking grim without him Lap of luxury meant so much to me In the end it's killing me

I used to think my luck was never gonna stop A big ol' bowl of cherries with a cherry up on top I thought my lot in life was simply sugar cups and cakes And that's the breaks, and the breaks, and the breaks I would lounge around the palace and reflect on all my gifts I bored myself with perfect lies, my mind began to drift But when you danced across the room I did a double-take And that's the breaks, and the breaks, and the breaks Just when you sure you've got it all, It all gets better Call me the belle of the ball A real high-stepper I led you to my heart, I led you to my bed You played me through and through, you bled me cherry red How could I suspect your heart was full of rattlesnakes? That's the breaks, and the breaks, and the breaks So let this be a lesson for those who dare to dream The higher you should fly, the deeper men will scheme First you get the pains and then you get the aches And that's the breaks, and the breaks, and the breaks

Make me your shadow Please talk to me I'll be gone tomorrow But if you need me, I can stay Sore eyes keep burning Long lines stay drawn And I swear you'll be forgotten Beggars like you don't come along to everyone and I just cant stand to be alone People Change For good or bad So Don't wait for me You made me an offer I guess I fell along the way But Baby I've grown stronger Honey when the world stops turning maybe I'll come back home and I just cant stand to be alone I've been crawling on all fours I've been wiping dirty floors So Don't wait for me People Change For good or for Bad I think I still hear Thunder I can feel your pain So Don't wait for me Don't Wait for me.

Darkness is wafting through my hair Eternity twinkles right out of thin air My eyes cannot find you but I know that you're there Your resonance is all that is Until the moonrise (x2) My ears are cocked to your dulcet tones When the air vibrates I'm not alone I know not which direction I'm enveloped in your sound That baritone echoes through the spheres Until the moonrise Why did you stop? I lost my bearings If I call out Will you hear me? The emptiness envelopes me Silence rings infinitely Then you draw a breath, and fill all I cannot see Our disembodied voices dance Until the moonrise

about

Your assignment this week is to write a slow, jazzy vamp, preferable in a minor key, along the lines of Louis Armstrong's take on "St. James Infirmary," Ella Fitzgerald's "Summertime," or Billie Holliday's version of "Stormy Weather." Your goal this week is to write something that could make a great track for local legends, Karon Click and the Hot Licks (for research, start here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKrLg3_E_tE). Your additional incentive this week is that not only will Karon and her gals pick their favorite song of the batch, but if they like it enough, they will cover it live. So ... go!
