Time for Netanyahu to go
Go and shove your wall with Mexico
Socialism and the self made gal
Turbulence from 45’s old pal
Animals that help at special schools
Security fiasco fuck these fools
Weaponizing weather what a shame
The new dream home that needs a better name
Swastikas in bathrooms Demigogues & clowns
Ryan got too gropey Had to shut it down
Michael J on Parkinsons Forecast solid snow
Morality & Michael CohenHow low can we go?
I remember you
You’d bow your head for none
The sky you spread your wings
All golden spun
But somehow, you got gone
Left me so surprised
Threw your lot with men you
Once despised
Have you lost your voice, now?
Did you lose your say?
This town seems so quiet, out, today
Have you looked around you?
The company you keep?
They seem as bent on hell as dirt is cheap
You and I both know
The truth’s a coffin nail
And clearer heads are heard
In fairytales
Cause when you hitched your star
To such a load of fools
Why’d you think you’re judged
By different rules?
Have you lost your voice, now?
Did you lose your say?
This town seems so quiet out, today
Have you looked around you?
The company you keep?
They seem as bent on hell as dirt is cheap
Is it this certain time of my life
Or is it the same for everyone
Regardless of age and ignoring the fact that we all walk on different roads
I can feel a change
Did I find another part of my heart
I never knew was there
Either way I can’t go back
It’s part of me
I’ve been made aware
I found out young that The world wasn’t made just for me
But now I see
I can’t just let it be
To keep the darkness from running free
I have to be
A better version of me
I’m goin to California
Is what said
Until I read that problems there are the same as here
It’s hard to know, exactly where I’m supposed to go
But I can feel it grow
Did I shed my skin along the way
Was it an even trade
Knowledge for the innocence I gave
My eyes are open and I can see
found out young that The world wasn’t made just for me
But now I see
I can’t just let it be
To keep the darkness from running free
I have to be
A better version of me
There’s no turning back
I can’t unlearn the the things I’ve come to realize
Searching for a truth
And now every day my soul
Is always full
I can feel the pull
Did I find another part of my heart
I never knew was there
Either way I can’t go back
It’s part of me
I’ve been made aware
I found out young that The world wasn’t made just for me
But now I see
I can’t just let it be
To keep the darkness from running free
I have to be
A better version of me
Well my roots run shallow in the southern clay
But I found this girl and she found her way
Into my heart so I will stay
Til my roots run deep in the southern clay
Now before the fruit falls rotten from an old tree soon forgotten
I’m checking the trunk for limbs worth hanging on to
And ill open up these new eyes on a September sunrise
For the first time casting Carolina blue
In the shade of you
Well her roots run deep in the southern clay
She sees her world in a Texan way
She’s reaching out cause she knows someday
Well find each other in the southern clay
Now before the fruit falls rotten from an old tree long forgotten
She’s checking the trunk for limbs worth hanging on to
And ill open up these new eyes on a sweet September sunrise
For the first time casting Carolina blue
In the shade of
You’re the only
One that knows me
The new me and the old me
Now before the fruit falls rotten from an old tree long forgotten
I’m checking the trunk for limbs worth hanging on to
And ill open up these new eyes on a September sunrise
For the first time casting Carolina blue
In the shade of you
about
Here’s Mitchell’s final assignment for the round:
""I read the news today, oh boy"
For my final assignment/ challenge/ whatever these things should be called, at some point this week I want you to buy a newspaper of your choice. It can be any newspaper so long as it is a legitimate newspaper (your local, free entertainment guide does not count). And I do mean and actual newspaper - like a physical, printed newspaper, not an online subscription of any kind, but a real paper & ink newspaper. Read the entire thing, front to back, then write your song.
It's the end of my run as curator of Round 21. I hope you all got something out of these concepts and exercises. If you have any comments, questions, criticisms, additions, or feedback of any kind, feel free to send it my way.
