The sunshine falls from the desert sky The night sets in for Voodoo Rider The jagged edge gets him high Follows dreams of the spider On a path of destruction Those will fall Every woman hear the devil's call The darkest art being painted And in her mind he's the divider What once was pure is now tainted With opium laced Voodoo Rider She'll follow him down Wilted flowers fall And now she hears the devil's call The sunshine falls down from the desert sky The dark allure of the outsider Death will come now from the lie Another soul for Voodoo Rider On a path of destruction Those will fall Every woman hear the devil's call

THERES NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMING HERE FOR YEARS IGNORE THE RUMORS IGNORE YOUR FEARS NIGHT SWIMMING AND I HOLD MY BREATH AND I’M PULLED RIGHT UNDER UNTIL THERES NOTHING LEFT AND IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THERES NO WAY OUT FOR SURE

Were you thinking that no one saw you When you were tying the final knot Were you counting on holy mercy or was it only an afterthought ‘Cause I could see you were counting daylight Buried your own remorse Where the whispers would gut your stage fright only strengthened your show of force ain’t no good luck, ain’t no bad only us, come loose at the seams So you just call it what you will Broken mirrors and magpie dreams And I was thinking about the days When you dug up the ancient scrolls Before you set what we built ablaze On the backs of the slaves you stole So what does it take to steel you Against the voices that scream your name Have you bought all the lies they told you That the gods have erased your shame ain’t no good luck, ain’t no bad only us, come loose at the seams So you just call it what you will Broken mirrors and magpie dreams

I’m turning in circles tonight Looking over my shoulders for you And it always has messed with my head and heart And I don’t feel at all right inside now Maybe my Christian ways fucked with my brain And my confessions may go on for days and days Because I never know when you may come into me No I never know when you’ll come for me I always wore a cross around my neck I always tried to do my best They told me I was such a good boy If you ever decide I am yours Please take it easy upon my soul Don’t wreak havoc on ones that I love Don’t play games while you’re having fun I will try my best to cast you out They told me I was such a good boy

i’m just sittin’ here watchin’ this old river roll by sometimes it’s low, other times it’s high mostly it’s just a piece of glass reflecting the sky and all the mysteries there within mystery’s a name for all the points on the map where the known and the unknown worlds overlap on a clear day you can peer straight through that gap and watch all the gears as they spin oh darlin’ i don’t wanna waste your time but here i am callin’ with my last lonely dime i’m sticking my neck out and i’m walkin’ the line cause when i went to the well and said “show me something true” when i asked for a sign i saw you i’m sitting here watching this old river roll along it’s ripe and swollen like the chorus of a love song it’ll wash away everything, right and wrong off to where, no one knows you might write it off as a coincidence call it superstition or call it happenstance i just know it’ll be the sweetest part of this slow, slow dance if i ever get to pull you in close oh darlin’ here i am with half a chance i’m through with stalling, i’m ready for true romance i don’t know where you’ve been babe or what you had planned but when i gave my palm to the reader and said “do what you do” the lines in my hand pointed to you i heard a bell ring at the moment we first met i heard a rooster crow the next time after that now i’m wide awake at midnight voodoo dancing with a black cat wondering how it is that i’ve never found the courage to say oh darlin’ i i know this is out of the blue but i’m tired of acting like a fool without a clue so here i am reaching out and i wanna follow through cause when i take a look at what’s missing from my life it’s such a beautiful view cause in every direction i see you cause i really see you i see you

Pressure causing cracks to appear Buzzards hover overhead somewhere near Blood is on the docket Black hole in my pocket No one listening, nobody here So say a prayer the end is nearer Save my soul, thinking clearer Broken down, broken hearted Broken mirror, Broken mirror Broken mirror, broken mirror Walls are caving in from all sides Vultures swarming like the rising tides Lies are getting thinner Loser not a winner No one to believe in, put your chin up So say a prayer the end is nearer Save my soul, thinking clearer Broken down, broken hearted Broken mirror, Broken mirror Broken mirror, broken mirror
8.
I’m feeling lucky What led you here to me How did I get so lucky Was it all my superstitions That brought you here today Lift my feet over railroad tracks Avoided all the black cats Or was it just our fate Two roads merge to make wider way I don’t know but I’m going to place my bets today Feels like I got nothing standing in my way Fortune has brought you here to me Got my winning ticket to the lottery I’m feeling lucky Must have accidentally played The right numbers cuz now I’m made Im open wide and I’m listenin Got a sunny disposition To the racetrack I should go Got a good feeling in my soul When You came along I had a premonition The Winds might change my poor condition I’ve got a feeling I’m going to place my bets today Feels like I got nothing standing in my way Fortune has brought you here to me Got my winning ticket to the lottery I’m feeling lucky I’m feeling lucky Ooooo I’ve got a feeling I’m going to place my bets today Feels like I got nothing standing in my way Fortune has brought you here to me Got my winning ticket to the lottery I’m feeling lucky I’m feeling lucky I’m feeling lucky

When we lose our earthly shadow on the moon Her namesakes swoon She takes away the darkness to adore To hide no more She shows us as we are The madmen paint their names upon the walls Aerosol scrawls An autograph not written our book Just take a look They tell us who they are Children run inside It's madness not to hide In the shadows with the lies That soothe the fragile pride In the moonlight truth remains To embrace it is insane A myth from those that reign But the fearless dance in lunar light again When the world should be asleep, she has her fun Reflects the sun Steals away the shadows from the night So it looks right She shows us as we are The midnight beams will draw them out The Lunatickled dance about The full moon gave them their name She deserves a chance to heal their pain Children run inside It's madness not to hide In the shadows with the lies That soothe the fragile pride In the moonlight truth remains To embrace it is insane A myth from those that reign But the fearless dance in lunar light again)

Fear, fear, living in fear holding my breath while I'm holding back tears Pain, pain, running away how many times have I tried to escape All bad things come in three's don't trust me, wait and see You may call me superstitious I'd rather be wrong than be sorry you may think that I'm suspicious but maybe you should join me down on my knees signs signs I can't define what it will take just to show you the signs My mind is a haunted house once inside there's no way out You may call me superstitious I'd rather be wrong than be sorry you may think that I'm suspicious but maybe you should join me down on my knees You may call me superstitious I'd rather be wrong than be sorry you may think that I'm suspicious but maybe you should join me down on my knees but maybe you should join me down on my knees

You see the world in grayscale I see it all in color There's only just a thin veil between this world and the other They're crossing over daily so we must hold the higher ground Hush now. Can you hear that sound? I'm clutching my rosary beads, Obviously there's something out there trying to get to me And till I see it with my own eyes I'll overanalyze every little rustle in the leaves I'm staring at the trees manically I don't want to but I have to believe So I'll anthropomorphize Because everything I think I see is a monster to me I've got garlic in my pocket silver bullets in my vest a silver cross etched in a silver locket hanging from my neck I've got stakes and holy water just in case the thing goes down. Hush now- can you hear that sound? Paranoia takes and paranoia gives Paranoia wastes but paranoia lives They're crossing over daily so we must hold the higher ground Hush now. Can you hear that sound? I'm clutching my rosary beads, Obviously there's something out there trying to get to me And till I see it with my own eyes I'll overanalyze every little rustle in the leaves I'm staring at the trees manically I don't want to but I have to believe So I'll anthropomorphize Because everything I think I see is a monster to me

v1: I got a suspicion It ain't no superstition that love will carry the day You say hold on It's not wrong to believe it, don't let fears get in the way ch: It's a fine, fine line between hope & faith And it's time, time, time for you to make a change Throw down those chains v2: No need to go solo If you don't know what you're doing, find someone who's got your back Don't rest in the ruins It's not weakness, it's communion, a reminder of what we could have ch: It's a fine, fine line between faith & hope And it's time, time, time for you to make it known You chose the wings, not the rope - imaginary harmonica solo - v3: Do you really believe it? Shall we call it even? Shall we stare into the eye of the sun? What if we don't follow? The rules become hollow, we won't hear the starting gun ch: It's a fine, fine line between me & you And it's time, time, time for you to speak some truth The only way out is through

about

Here’s Jeffrey Dean Foster’s assignment for the week:

"How about we write songs about Superstition? Your own, folklore about them, daring to defy them, the consequences of such.”

This should be interesting! Go get ‘em, kids …
