Cut me down Down to size In a hole Is where I lie That summer 69 That summer you'll never find Doo doo doo doo Canyon sun In the hills Hitch a ride Oh what a thrill That summer 69 That summer you'll never find Desert sky Last to see Judgement day The end for me That summer 69 That summer you'll never find Doo doo doo doo

Latte morning on the number 5 Short delay looks like someone died Cold as hell but I’m alive Wish it'd happen on company time Hooker boots and a porcelain gaze Your silk paper looks seem so out of place So put together but you walk in a daze Fast lane living and barely keepin' pace Judge you all through my narrow lens Gasping for air through the pain of the bends All I've done and I can't make amends Tell all your stories a little too intense Maybe I’m just free Strollin' asphalt all alone Maybe it's you and me All of us bound to roam Maybe it's the sadness Playin' colors with my mind Maybe it's the whirly bits Made my reason done unwind Don't look now, what's coming through the door Salary man just peeled himself off of the floor Party's over, bet he's feelin' kinda sore Choices made, but still he's wanting more A little chatter of tin, out steps urban night All these people going about their lives So many stories and so little time Dreams about you help me understand mine Salary man, a geisha, and a couple thieves Staring out windows, on phones, seeking relief High class livin', the cost is mighty steep It still ain't worth stepping out for a leap

v1: It's OK, it's alright No need for a breakdown ...unless you feel the need ----- Soon the time will be right We're taking it downtown ...we're starting to pick up speed v2: Lock it up, toss the key You know you won't use it ...at least not in this life ----- Fire it up, blow it down We'll fight our way through it ...Work 'til it feels right ch: Hey, whatcha say We're calling' the shots now There's no need to worry Take it or leave it behind We're all we've got now We're the judge & the jury v3: Sun comes up, waters part The world keeps on turnin' ...Just like the day before ----- Be the light in the dark Don't ever stop burnin' ...we all need to be restored ch: Hey, whatcha say We're calling' the shots now There's no need to worry Take it or leave it behind We're all we've got now We're the judge & the jury - bunch o' guitars - ch: Hey, whatcha say We're calling' the shots now There's no need to worry Take it or leave it behind We're all we've got now We're the judge & the jury

Have you ever dreamed your gun curse Under the night? Have you ever seen your sun burst asunder in light I don’t wanna be your summer fool In the valley days, your gold dreams Leave you no chance When you set ablaze your fair schemes Render the dance I don’t wanna be your summer fool

I remember looking at you and hoping someday that you would notice me then suddenly you were calling me cute and telling me how you wanted me to be with you now you're grabbing my waist and pulling me in for our first kiss after four years Wishing and waiting for our first time while the years just keep on flying by but, oh I remember all our first times And I remember sneaking away to the backseat feeling like we were on top of the world and we knew that we might be judged but it's only because they wouldn't understand our love How I spend everyday talking to you and thinking how I'm so done for I wanna marry you Wishing and waiting for our first time while the years just keep on flying by but, oh I remember all our first times

tonight i wish i had wine but i’m settling for water as we roll on down the line down to port saint larue so much judgement in my mind gives me no comfort and no quarter whatever salvation i find you know i’ll send it back to you all those boys up in valhalla made me forget my own name in that old sixty three impala speeding back from where we came but all the dreams of a young man they won’t burn through the night you just wake up cold and hungry in the early morning light shorn of fleece and fancy like and exile on the run haunted by all the things i can’t see under this cool midday sun every living thing is an alter everyone whose gone on is a saint i’m out here somewhere on the border bereft of grievance and complaint all those girls down in el dorado they made my head spin around in that land of no tomorrows my feet never touched the ground but all the dreams of a young man they won’t burn through the night you just wake up cold and hungry in the early morning light
10.
May your angels crash slow tonight in the world May your conscience never let you down Lay there softly when you’re weak Don’t let strangers get the best of you And I’ll forget all those memories When I was perfect I am ready to burn I am ready to burn There was always another way Slow as snow falls from the sky Slow as a mother’s burning cry We will always be a loving suicide I was perfect I am ready to burn I am ready to burn And the judgement we shared will die along with us I am ready to burn I am ready to burn There was always another way So run away now
11.
Why don’t you just breathe Wake up and see what’s there to see You’re only wasting time Cozy with wool over your eyes Come on face the dark Exploit the innocence and tear us apart Don’t need the night light on Just close your eyes until the dawn No need to compromise You always wear disguise Belly full of lies You say you’ll never cave Judgement comes either way Come lay it on the line

about

It’s my turn for the assignment this week. Here ya go:

Recently, Dale was mentioning that he’s been a little disappointed about the general lack of feedback from the group. This is certainly true; it’s not that big of a part of our group culture, for better or for worse. Of course, sometimes feedback and critiques are part of the protocol for a specific round. Some of you guys are better about that sort of thing than others. Some of you (I’m looking at you, Mitchell!) are so good about critiques that you will offer them spontaneously, on occasion. In any case, to at least temporarily remedy this problem, we’re going to turn the firehose on Dale this week. In addition to writing your song (which must include the key word “judge” or “judgement” or some variation thereof), you must provide a short critique of Dale’s song from this past week (or his song from this coming week, if he gets it in in time to be useful). As always, nothing of the “I really liked it, sort!” - you must provide some kind of actionable criticism. You can post your critique on the Facebook thread.
