Late night I try my writing But I can’t sing loud I keep the volume down Momma working The Baby sleeping How can I create without no feelin Can’t play real instruments Cause you might hear me Yes I am nervous Yes I am shy I can’t go downstairs, can’t go outside Maybe I’ll find a place to call my own in the garage I got cars there, but I can pull them out It’s got storage so nothings in the way I got an outlet to plug equipment it And I can play my music after midnight Because the bedrooms are on the other side Of my house and no one can hear me I’ll put posters up, pretend I’m back in College Makin Beats Makin Beats Make music in garage, Makin music in garage Makin art in the garage Fuckin Shit up in garage My real band Well they don’t play right now Cause there’s a virus outside and its scary So I’ll make my music all by myself With some beats and a guitar and midi synthesizer I’ll throw some beats down I’ll fuck some shit up Pretend I’m LCD Soundsystem Or maybe Hot chip, or even Soulwax Makin beats makin beats Make music in garage Makin music in garage Makin art in the garage Fuckin shit up in garage In my own head maybe I’ll throw a party Shits gonna get real with the 808’s Cause I am techno Elvis I’m makin hips shake People come to hear me from miles all around If I get hungry I can go make a sandwich Cause the kitchens right inside the door Won’t bother anybody, won’t make a sound Then I’ll back out And make music in garage

If we don't leave now we'll never make it on time train leaves the station right at 5 Won't take long but you never know what obstacles lie between you and where you'll go Say goodbye to the ones you leave behind and paths diverge that were once intertwined we'll part soon but see each other again and we'll talk about today as if it were way back when soft rains let in and you bought the fare we watched you on the platform standing there and the trains rolled in and obscured our view and when it left it left with you be safe and take care while you're on the last train out of County Clare How many times have we said goodbye we brush it of because inside we know this isn't the last time we'll get the chance next time we'l make sure to pay the debts we owe Be safe on your travels, tell your family hi don't forget the things we said before we said goodbye and when the quiet sets in on your journey home I hope we cross your mind wherever it may roam soft rains let in and you bought the fare we watched you on the platform standing there and the trains rolled in and obscured our view and when it left it left with you be safe and take care while you're on the last train out of County Clare

angel in her sleep nary said a word but I got places I gotta be no one ever knows what’s inside a heart a man could steal the salt from the sea but I’ve got the wheels you wanna ride? Maybe I ain’t the man I could be there’s always the road but I’ve never had the speed but I’ll take what I use and I’ll use what I’ll steal Gonna chase down this storm All the way to Mobile it’s rotten, through and through hard to find an edge damaged from the day of my birth don’t call me by my name lord come make it rain come and wash this scum from the earth but I’ve got the wheels you wanna ride? Maybe I ain’t the man I could be there’s always the road but I’ve never had the speed but I’ll take what I use and I’ll use what I’ll steal Gonna chase down this storm All the way to Mobile

The Lime Cafe Take me to the Lime Cafe Take me to the Lime Cafe It’s been so long I’ve been away It’s been so long I’ve been away Sitting in my lonely room Examining these walls of gloom Imprisoned in a tomb against my will My mind was drifting yesterday My mind was drifting yesterday To a land so far away To a land so far away Put a Red Stripe in my hand I yearn to hear that reggae band on a summer night and breathe the Northern air Take me to the Lime Bar Cafe Take me to the Lime Cafe Take me where the guitars play Take me where the guitars play Destination solitaire and empty places everywhere Cyberspace the only place to share.

Take me anywhere I’m tired of being alone Locked in, left out Take me anywhere Francisco, or New Orleans Just please, away Know it’s a long long way So I, dream of moonlit bays They help me feel alive Know it’s a long long time And I, I ain’t got a dime Keep telling my sweet lies Seems to me sometimes I’m just better off alone Take me anywhere I’m leaving this wretched home Locked in, left out Take me anywhere Chicago, or Baton Rouge Just please, away

Lights on the strip burn bright most nights, but not right now Wonder what the desert moon in all her wisdom. is thinking about Lost City, Lost Angels Lost City, Lost Souls Lost City, Lost Angels Lost city of gold Smell of excitement and indignity, screamed out loud Smoke filled casinos mixed with fake cherry All I’ve been dreaming about Lost City, Lost Angels Lost City, Lost Souls Lost City, Lost Angels Lost city of gold Shoot for 21, basking in the sun Painted faces, leather & laces Tattooed fingers grasping for the straws Smell that lingers, breaking all the laws

v1: No one needs another song about the river A bunch of words about the blue sky And drinking wine at 3am ----- We're all tired of all the songs that mention sunshine Playing frisbee on the beach I know I'm right, but then again... ch: We can always be reminded of the things that make life work So easy to be grateful, sometimes we won't So many hidden treasures No such thing as guilty pleasures You either like it or you don't v2: Playing songs on the stage or on the back porch Even when we move it online A good investment of your time ----- There's no shame in feeling joy for just the small things Like the way the water moves I could be wrong, but I don't mind ch: We can always be reminded of the things that make life work So easy to be grateful, sometimes we won't So many hidden treasures No such thing as guilty pleasures You either like it or you don't -- solo stuff -- ch: We can always be reminded of the things that make life work So easy to be grateful, sometimes we won't So many hidden treasures No such thing as guilty pleasures You either like it or you don't v1.5: No one needs another song about the river A bunch of words about the blue sky And drinking wine at 3am

In the metal capsule Rubber whirling down below no needs past the sand plateau Rolling through the air to the land beyond the sound Navigating to the ridge The sounds all in their beds Winding, clouds beneath our heads Rolling through the air to the land above the ground

Take me to a place On and on it goes Living day to day Locked up in a cage Wondering why I stay Take me to a place Oh so far away Take me to a place Where nights turn into day Where the people all live free Where all things will just be Last night I dreamed that you Came up and took my hand We flew in the airway To a foreign land Sailed across the ocean Looking for some token Tanning in the bay In that far off place Ridin’ on a highway Sailin’ on the sea Anywhere will do, dear Let’s travel, just you and me

To all the kind leaders of the Kiwanis Club In Morgan County, Alabama, listen up I know it seems like a good idea To be meetin up for lunch, raisin money for kids But there’s a virus on the scene, Covid-19 And I really love my family, so here’s the deal I’m makin biscuits Cheddar and thyme Fluffy like grandma’s The buttery kind I’ll leave a basket At your front door If you can just stay home A few months more I know it’s hard, and we all love to eat But it travels indoors, twenty-six feet You can chat over chicken parmesan As soon as that vaccine is in my daddy’s arm If you want biscuits Cheddar and thyme Fluffy like grandma’s The buttery kind I’ll leave a basket At your front door If you can just stay home A few months more I know Zoom’s a pain And we all love to eat But it travels indoors Twenty-six feet You can chat over Chicken parmesan As soon as that vaccine Is in my daddy’s arm If you want biscuits Cheddar and thyme Fluffy like grandma’s The buttery kind I’ll leave a basket At your front door If you can just stay home A few months more

Honeymoon The Gateway Arch marked the first stop along the way The calm before Kansas storms nearly blew us away Painted pianos and Red Rocks tried reeling us in But a steady pace brought open skies past Cheyenne Walked a fence line by the Tetons after lunch in Jackson Hole Just a short ride to a campsite where moose greeted the morn’ Old Faithful and Mammoth Falls are worth whatever it takes Shoe Tree on the way to Crater Lake I don’t remember everything in between So much is a blur, canvas of memories Over seven thousand miles in the course of two weeks A beautiful start, I’d do it all again Still had our apples when we crossed to stand next to the trees That tower so high it’s truly hard to conceive Coffee on route 1 to stand on Haight and Ashbury Quick shower and sleep before the climb through Yosemite Five mountain ranges in day, sunset Death Valley Had to let the brakes cool before we hit Sin City Two days was enough won $10 and fled the scene Quick look at the Dam and Lake Mead I don’t remember everything in between So much is a blur, canvas of memories Over seven thousand miles in the course of two weeks A beautiful start, I’d do it all again Grand Canyon sunrise, burritos on the Reservation Best we ever had, dilapidated gas station Painted Desert like another world just a little further from there Through the Petrified Forest, innocent, without a care Steak in Amarillo, fighting food coma A quick stroll through the capital of Oklahoma Eighteen hours straight back to where we said our vows Fertilize the roots and live in the now. I don’t remember everything in between So much is a blur, canvas of memories Over seven thousand miles in the course of two weeks A beautiful start, I’d do it all again

about

From Emily: “Most of us aren't doing as much traveling as we'd like to right now, so do us a favor. Take us on a trip in your mind. Write a song about a specific place, whether it's a city, state, country, spot with a nice view up the road, or a body of water. It could be a place that you love dearly or even a place that you love to hate.”
