My daddy worked every day of his life
He never knew a thing but trouble and strife
Dug what he's got out of rubble and clay
Always told me, "son, it's the American way"
I ain't the son that my daddy raised
I grew my hair, I took up different ways
Of all his lessons, one that sunk in deep
You wanna live, you gotta earn what you keep
It's not yr business, man
We got no business at hand
You best step off my land
While you still can
It's not yr business, man
Won't be part of your plan
I got no business, man
Not with you
Ain't got much family left still living round here
My momma passed nearly 20 years
So many dreams disappeared in the air
Nothing but memories and an easy chair
Rented this house just as long as I've known
Hard as he worked, he can't afford his own
So look me in the eye and tell me once again
Why you gotta put a mall where this house has been
It's not yr business, man
We got no business at hand
You best step off my land
While you still can
It's not yr business, man
Won't be part of your plan
I got no business, man
Not with you
Keep waving papers round keep flashing yr card
Call out the police, call the national guard
You think we're nothing but a big old drag
Ain't going nowhere but in body bags
It's not yr business, man
We got no business at hand
You best step off my land
While you still can
It's not yr business, man
Won't be part of your plan
I got no business, man
Not with you

they tell of a man so full of love
that he came down to earth to help us to find our way
all of the sinners and whores and lowest of lows.
He cared for all, the rich and the poor
the large and the small those with disease
and the dirtiest ones he held them all close to his heart
when I die I will climb the highest mountain
and I will walk upon waters as he did
I hope to meet him at the gates of heaven
the story is told he was born to a virgin
growing to preach of compassion to all
and his followers believed him to be the son of our lord
authorities took him in, it is said that he died for our sins
was raised up to heaven to be with his father again
to look upon us with his glory
when I die I will climb the highest mountain
and I will walk upon waters as he did
I hope to meet him at the gates of heaven
Take what you will believe if you want to
and do unto others as you would have done unto to you
you still can't deny those are good words to live by
and as I get older I hope that I led a good life
and my sins are forgiven for better for worse
I hope that I did the best that I could
when I die I will climb the highest mountain
and I will walk upon waters as he did
I hope to meet him at the gates of heaven

Act of Kindness

Don't believe in a heaven above
Doesn't mean I don't know how to love
I mean the real kind
Not one thing in a book and another thing in life
People are different - embrace it
Theres more than one god - just face it
Don't care who's God is right
It's such a stupid reason, to fight
open our eyes end this blindness
Start with an act of kindness
Too many wars too much sorrow
There is some good but let's think about tomorrow
A world where all people can live in peace
For my kids, I can still believe
