We praise you, LORD, for all those things that your hand does provide. Our strength is found in knowledge that you're surely on our side. Creation taught us that you love all beneath the sun. O LORD, forgive us when we think that we're the only one. Our joy, O LORD, is meant to share with others on our way. We love to share with friends we know; to laugh to share, to play. But as we offer invitations to this festal feast. O LORD, forgive we we forget about the least of these. The comforts of our home are gifts that keep us toasty warm. The food to eat, the beds to sleep, the shelter from the storm. With all these things at our command we have still not learned O LORD, these things are nothing that our mortal souls have earned.

The Year of Letting Go Have I worn it in the last year? For that matter, even two The drawer that it’s in barely shuts. Will I miss it if it’s gone? Not sure it even fits, Feels like it’s time to move on. Let it go. CHORUS: Oh, it’s the year of letting go Oh, it’s the year of letting go Do I even know this person that shows up on my feed Guess they friended me some time back. We don’t have much in common, and they seem to be a drag No reason not to give them the sack. Let ‘em go. CHORUS BRIDGE: If something doesn’t serve you, it just needs to be gone. If someone doesn’t love you, no sense in hanging on. (Instrumental on Chorus changes) Always said I’d fix it someday, but someday never comes I’ve only got so many somedays left It’s taking up space in my shed and in my head Leaving it on the curb suits me best. Let it go. CHORUS

Should I lose my Good sense of wonder Should I find my Awe gone astray I pray I’m mindful the lightning’s thunder As long as life flows This gift of days In this endless Sea of creation We are but one small Drop of rain Let us no way Forget our station And raise our voices In strong refrain To the heavens we see To the rivers we know May the mysteries stay ever so And the mystic abide If I speak out Beyond my power If I claim to See in the dark Lead me homeward my final hours Light my vision with brighter spark To the heavens we see To the rivers we know May the mysteries stay ever so And the mystic abide

HEARTS NEED LOVE C#m B E BE C#m B E BE A E B F#m A E BE Our Hearts need love need love Our Hearts need love need love Sometimes we hit the wall But we always find a door To open up Theres peace & war peace & war Theres peace & war peace & war Sometimes we hide our eyes But we can’t ignore the cries We hear inside There are times you just don’t know What lies up the road There are times you just don’t know There are times you just don’t know We all have a voice have a voice Our silence never speaks When we choose to hide and seek
5.
when I think of Jesus, I think of mercy & grace I think of loving someone so much, you were willing to take their place I think of power, restrained, even as things grow dim and even when I don't believe, I want to be more like Him

It’s a long way to go Down to the sea Where the fairies crow They carry me Cast off the white cliffs A flight to the rest On zephyrs I drift Life sorely blessed Scatter me out on the Summertime breeze Somewhere with ocean and wild cedar trees No headstones, no rock, no tomb to hold me Kiss your goodbyes on the songs of the sea This ain’t a sad song It’s a simple request When sending me home Know I’ve been blessed Though I’ve regrets They pale to compare To the life that I’ve lived Little worse for wear No eulogies No weeping for me Just laughing and song A right jubilee Yeah, maybe I’m gone But you’re all still here You ain’t alone Ain’t nothin’ to fear Scatter me out on the Summertime breeze Somewhere with ocean and wild cedar trees No headstones, no rock, no tomb to hold me Kiss your goodbyes on the songs of the sea

about

This week’s assignment comes straight outta Tokyo, from Dale:

"Two options, as I like having choices. One, write a song that includes a bridge or a mid-8 (so, it needs to have three obviously separate parts) OR two, as I've been rewatching the excellent series "Midnight Mass" on Netflix and it includes a bunch of really great hymns in its soundtrack, you can choose to write a hymn (preferably a cappella). From Britannica, a hymn, from the Greek "hymnos," meaning song of praise is strictly, a song used in Christian worship, usually sung by the congregation and characteristically having a metrical, strophic (stanzaic), nonbiblical text. Now, I'm not picky about the Christian part of it, it doesn't necessarily have to be religious even (I mean, I don't give a damn if you're extolling Baphomet) I just want it to adhere to the musical conventions of what a traditional "hymn" would be.”
