Well, this caught me off guard...this was going to be a blissful and serene heroine overdose song and it ended up a lullaby. That's cool, I guess.
So, the tomfoolery I'm working here with the chords is pretty intense. There's only two chords in the song, everything else is an inversion of those two chords floating around in the confines of a Dmaj7 6/9 chord. Every once in a while there's a sus4, but that's it. It's not technically a 3 chord song, but from the brief I assumed that "three chords or fewer" would be acceptable. There's also a generative synth patch twinkling in the background just bouncing around two octaves worth of a D major pentatonic just to give it some nebulous sparkle. Honestly, I like this thing better without words at all, but since I had to have some...
lyrics
Everything was
In it’s season
Soft as the rain
Echoed moonlight
Sweet as nighttime
Spoken so plain
Lay your head down, my dear
There ain’t nothing to erase
Here’s you a lullaby
Sleep is coming
Trust her warm embrace
I know it’s scary
Don’t worry dear, it’s
Lifetimes away
Leave a light on
In the morning
Laugh through the day
Lay your head down, my dear
There ain’t nothing to erase
Here’s you a lullaby
Sleep is coming
Trust her warm embrace
