A little bit more of a dance track this time, but still built around guitars and distorto-bass. The lyrics, again, are mostly throwaways, although I have to say that I was working on this track while listening to the Jan 6 hearings, and apparently, the mood seeped into this otherwise pretty innocuous song.
lyrics
Who’d believe
We coulda come this far?
You’ve been trying to knock me down
no one’s ever left a scar
for so long
We’ve pushed and pulled in vain
You keep taking swings at me
You know I never felt the pain
Fool me once
Fool me twice
Still got the nerve
Just roll the dice
Look around
They’re falling like dominos
count your stars
Count your cost
My line in the sand it
Just got crossed
Who can tell?
we’ll make it up as we go
But something’s changed
Somehow we have crossed a line
Unfamiliar waters got me
Drowning in the deepest tides
So take a breath
Where you wanna go from here?
Do we pull it back together or
Do we give in to our deepest fear?
Fool me once
Fool me twice
Still got the nerve
Just roll the dice
Look around
They’re falling like dominos
count your stars
Count your cost
My line in the sand it
Just got crossed
Who can tell?
we’ll make it up as we go
