Back in time when the world was young, all the animals needed a chief
Bear was there and wanted it, but Beaver, so did he
Other animals thought it should be who was wise or who was strong
Til nothing was left but enmity over who was right and who was wrong
This went on for many moons across that verdant land
Then Old Man Napi happened by and thought he’d lend a hand
He showed them all a simple trick, how to disappear a bone
“Let the one who is the best at this, be the one who takes the throne.”
They all agreed and set about learning how to play
the bear was good, but the beaver better and won for most of the day
till buffalo took the bone and it looked like he would win
Then little mouse stepped to the front and aimed to challenge him
They all laughed at this, but mouse was fast and soon he took the lead
Buffalo tried hard to win but couldn’t match his speed
Finally, they all gave up and though it seemed beyond belief
The little mouse stood up in front and was anointed as their chief
“The first thing I shall do” said he “is give this gift away.
I am too small to lead us all so listen to what I say.
I give this gift to the one that Napi made with his own hand.”
And that is how the rule of beasts was granted to the man.
And to this day the little mouse holds a place of honor still
It is forbidden that a Blackfoot man a mouse should ever kill

Memory and myth
Painted you with
A fake picasso palette
Rendered your gifts
Like Taylor Swift
I know all about it
Climbing your mountain green I
Polish your portrait to a glassy sheen
Wearing my midnight blue I
Sit right in the middle of this
Broken view
Cardinals sing
Of cardinal sin
But winter finds me wordless
The quiet nights bring
A place to begin
Bible black and starless
Fortress of frozen hope still
Visible in my microscope
Gemini house on fire I
Listen to the voices of the
Midnight choir
Simple as our longing
Right as rain
We go down to river
To wash away our shame
Searching for belonging
It’s why we came
We bury our belongings
Else feed em to the flames
Memory and myth
Painted you with
A fake picasso palette
Rendered your gifts
Like Taylor Swift
I know all about it

I have found a love in misery
its cold embrace wraps around me
inside my pain I found company
I'll never leave it whispers gently
how could you compare
this mistress never leaves
it's always there
walking beside of me
lie to me
tear my soul apart
speak to me in a language that I know
I want you
to break my heart
my blood runs with these chains bound tight
broken by the dark that's there each night
crack the whip says I do this for you
I'll teach your wild heart to be true
this is the language that I speak
I find comfort in dishonesty
tell me you love me with a lie
say you could never love a feeble heart like mine
lie to me
tear the reigns I bear apart
speak to me in a language that I know
I want you
to break my heart

I've got everything I need,
to get me down the road
I've got my old seabag,
so I can carry all my clothes
I've got a clean pair of socks,
and an old broke in pair of boots
You have to take care of your feet,
If you want your feet to take care of you
I've gon an old beat up hat,
to keep the sun out of my eyes
A twenty hidden in the sweatband
In case my throat gets dry
And there upon my face
You will find a big ole smile
And a song upon my lips
to help eat away the miles
I've got my Daddy's pocket knife,
Sharp enough to do the trick
In case I have to cut myself
A brand new walking stick
I've got a roll of duct tape
And 10ft of baling wire
I can fix most anything
With that and a pair of pliers
When I arrived here I had nothing
And I'll still have it when I leave
The only thing I'm searching for
Is a safe warm place to sleep
I've got no destination
No place that I have to be
No one else to worry about
Or rely upon but me
I'll wake up in the morning
With the rising of the sun
And I'll flip a coin up in the air
To see which way I should turn
My destination is the journey
I'm just going with the flow
I've got everything I need
To get me down the road
I've got everything I need
To get me down the road

One Time
One time you were all that you had
and now your going back to that one time
don’t cry when your reaching for the past and you find that you have passed by that one time one time
One time you were left to reminisce
and the times that you have missed
In that one time
One time you were all that you had and now your going back to that One time

I
Lord:
“Will I make it though the summer?”
Lord:
“Will I live to see the fall?”
Lord:
“Will we all survive the winter?”
Lord:
“Are you even there at all?”
A sudden stillness washes over me
The mortal and the infinite entwine
Our echoes thunder through eternity
What marvellous and baffling design!
II
Lord:
“Will I make it though the summer?”
Lord:
“Will I live to see the fall?”
Lord:
“Will we all survive the winter?”
Lord:
“Are you even there at all?”
Let lash ourselves and hoist high our wailings
To delight the cold, indifferent stars above
In service to the disgrace of our failings
What miseries trimmed in wrappings of pure love!
Lord:
“Will I make it though the summer?”
Lord:
“Will I live to see the fall?”
Lord:
“Will we all survive the winter?”
Lord:
I don’t think you’re there at all
