I wrote this dub for you To say I love the things you do But why am I so blue I can't seem to let you shine through My pain should go away I wish I knew what you would say So why am I so gray Shine your rays on down and light my way Bring an end to my darkness Rise my soul and set this pain You have me longing for the morning You bring the night time to an end Will you warm me from the cold Will you take me when I'm old Bring an end to my darkness Rise my soul and set this pain Shine your light on me

Each day’s a copy of the one before and my mind’s a repetitious haze Though I’m not lazy, it’s so hard to change my ways It’s my last day of staring at the lifeless walls of an office that’s beige and gray People think I’m crazy -but there’s no way I can stay There’s a great big world out there for me A marvelous orb I’ve got to see No I won’t wait I’m gonna live my legend now Gonna tempt fate I’ve got to face it anyhow Leave my possessions, all my dull routines I’ve accumulated over years Looking for adventure with a heart that’s light and clear I’ll stand on the summit of a mountain rising in the deepest part of Nepal Gazing at the sunrise in stunned reverence of it all There’s a great big world out there for me A marvelous orb I’ve got to see No I won’t wait I’m gonna live my legend now Gonna tempt fate I’ve got to face it anyhow

he walks upon all fours and doesn't mind picks up all the scraps that he can find his hair is matted down from the rains his paws are cracked and aching all the time He walks into the alley to find his prey El gato sees him and then runs away a bit slower than he used to be left out in the cold and now a stray You fool what have you done You fool what have you done El Perro Blanco long may you run He thinks about the life he used to know with his master, kids and a place to call his own but then he went and jumped the fence and never seemed to find his way back home Struggles finding shelter to rest his head Does tricks for a piece of meat and slice of bread gone are all the days of comfort now he finds he's struggling instead You fool what have you done You fool what have you done El Perro Blanco long may you run And as he sits alone and howls out still hopes his family hears him as he shouts but its been years since he's been gone he's left with little hope and mostly doubt El Perro Blanco do you know what you have done? Left a life of happiness for a life on the run Gone are all the belly scratches bowls of food and games of fetch and fun You fool what have you done You fool what have you done El Perro Blanco long may you run

I step out at night Struttin' my stuff But it's not enough Oh, I'm think of love I'm thinking of you And how I could get with you Struttin' my stuff Is not enough It's not enough To win your love Struttin' my stuff Is not enough It's not enough Toi win your love Boy, turn your head my way... I got something to say

Seasons changing feeling like it was a picture from a long day past Leaves falling, no stopping, beat dropping, school calling So long summer Seeing friends again and pencils started sharpening, moving fast Early morning, play ground, city sounds keep stalling So long summer Put down your swimsuit Pack up your lunch box Days getting shorter Scream from the rooftops Chorus Pack up your lunch box Put down your bagels Days getting shorter Dance on the table

v1: Keep in mind that the things you find Might not necessarily be true Know, of course, what's mine is yours And what's me just might be you You're under the gun, but you follow the sun From the daytime to the night You show your cards, this is gonna be hard But it sure is worth the fight ch: We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger Just you & me, girl We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger v2: Play the game, don't act the same They're watching every move Follow me down to the edge of town You've got nothing left to prove You've got your pride, but the things you hide Will be the things you need You try to talk, but the ones that walk Are the ones you won't believe ch: We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger Just you & me, girl We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger - sax solo - - horn fantasy - v3: We sit in the dark 'til we see a spark Bring the nighttime to the day We try to climb, but we only rewind Our lives, it's the only way In the end we'll see if we disagree That it all starts to make sense You gotta pick a side, can't ride the divide Gotta get up off that fence ch: We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger Just you & me, girl We were built for something bigger Bigger than this world We were built for something bigger - repeat -

about

From DD:

"Congratulations - you get a horn section this week! Write me a 'horn song.' Whatever that means to you. Stax, Motown, John Zorn skronkfest, Henry Purcell trumpet suite; whatever. And the good news? I don't even care if you arrange or record the horns or fake horns. But if you don't, please justify to me, in your notes, why your song is a 'horn song.'"
