I was only waiting for you to come round by my bedside I just need to see the look upon your face I know it's no guarantee I'm hoping for this memory to kill these blues But I can't wait til I keep you No I can't wait til I keep you Seven years of emptiness this heart I had was so depressed when you came through You were wearing that black dress and those big heeled shoes I was blinded by love at first sight I never felt so much But I can't wait to feel your touch No I can't wait to feel your touch I waited for so long to feel love this strong It rains on me With those eyes you hypnotize me to ecstasy And your beautiful hair it flows and smells so sweet And you're brilliant between the sheets Yeah you kill me between the sheets

Well my mama warned me about this man I didn’t seem to understand My friends all tried to tell me He’s no good, wait you’ll seem him Use you up and spit you out You don’t know but your about to find out He will use you up and spit you out You don’t know but you’re about to find out You’re in heartbreak hell You’re in heartbreak hell You’re in heartbreak hell Well my mama she told me stay away from him Well my daddy he told me you’re too good for him My friends they told me he will only make you sad I told my friends you don’t know what we have I love him Why can’t he see She can’t love him like me Oh, I love him Why can’t he see She can’t love him like me I’m in heartbreak hell I’m in heartbreak hell I’m in heartbreak hell I know all about you and your women I know all about your huggin’ and kissin’ Won’t you make me your one and only You don’t know what this is doing to me I love him Why can’t he see She can’t love him like me Oh I love him Why can’t he see I am in heartbreak hell Hell Hell Hell

never a question about a motive you simply took in my emotions sometimes the sky can be so broken stars alone, no light to soak in only one way to find the pathway to the only road that leads me back to you only one way in that maze again just one way out and one way in just one way out and one way in a road's not lonely but its a token.. a path to places left unspoken sometimes the moon can seem alone, then a single cry can bring the hope in
4.
dream never found There’s a dream that lives up in the air And waits for someone to find it there. To help someone heal in a time of sorrow a reason to carry on into a better tomorrow. Waiting for you where you least expect it Is a new hope to live for There’s a dream never found that no one will know Alone with itself and nowhere to go All that it wants is to inspire But it’s too hard to find Like an abandoned desire Waiting for you where you least expect it Is a new hope to live for I promise to die someday I promise to die someday I promise to die someday But until then I will think of you Wear your finest clothes Cause there’s no way to know When all your wishes could come true She could be standing in line, smile in her eyes Just waiting for you to take her away Waiting for you where you least expect it Is a new hope to live for I promise to die someday I promise to die someday I promise to die someday But until then I will think of you

Alone at the top of your mountains looking down at the valley floor as the sun sets on the river below golden light spills to my door taking in your rolling vista I'm thankful for the day just passed and the sweet smell of lilac tinges the air holding my breath as though it was my last Oh, I am home Walking miles of your rugged terrain reminds me of just how small I can be as the wind whispers through the stands of pine I hear your voice calling to me Oh I am home My Carolina The seagulls cry on your sandy shores as the salty breeze washes over me nothing compares to my Carolina so beautiful from mountains to sea As you hold me in your heart like an infant's mother know you always have a place in mine I am awed by your beauty like a star-struck lover no where in the world could ever be so fine Oh, I am home.

You could learn a lot about people Riding on a greyhound bus The world today just seems a little different Not enough of them looking out for us Of course that don't mean I'll blow the scene But I just might blow you off Give me something Give me something Give me something to feel Give me something I need something To hold on to... That's real Sensitive in bubbles give a man a dime Out there criticizing charity Penny for your troubles working overtime Ain't that how it's supposed to be Trading things and cashing in on working backs Pay for heart attacks Wish that I could be a man To help somebody in need Live my life a little bit but We all need help, we all sometimes bleed
7.
Why baby why is another code red in sight Oh mercy me I wonder why the bombs dropped again The bible says we should show our love to everyone But I can't help but to hate you even more now I'll fly on my own somehow I do not wander far from home now You had the heart of a bear born to the wild north I had the love of a child who'd never known anyone So the story goes, break a heart and just move on some will change, while others stay the same So Darkness be my shining star I shudder every night love I'll fly on my own somehow I do not wander far from home now Why baby why is another code red in sight Oh mercy me I wonder why the bombs dropped Saturday's gone and Sunday morning comes I made myself the bed that I sleep on I'll fly on my own somehow I do not wander far from home

Verse 1: It's all that easy, it's all that hard Was the last thing she said as she climbed on board The flight to take her halfway around the world Verse 2: She'd take it all back, the truth be told But what she did she'll never know That's how we find ourselves lost on an unmarked road Chorus: I am because we are I am because we are Verse 3: When the time is right she will make her move All the thrills in the night won't be enough She'll find before too long she ain't bulletproof Chorus: I am because we are I am because we are I am Bridge: She fell in love with forward motion And she learned to live with change She never stops her hoping that life gets better every day She learned to guard her blindside But life remained the same But she's pretty sure that she will find her way Verse 4: It's all that easy, it's all that hard Was the last I heard as the sky went dark Chorus: I am because we are I am because we are I am

You were the coolest thing I had ever seen You promised everything – and soon I found my scene Amidst the garbage of the rat race In tenements we claimed Where the misfits came together And survival was the game You didn’t make it easy Lord knows you played rough Your streets were dark and sleazy But I just couldn’t get enough Night was a different world We were native aliens Dark peacocks on display Bright fragments of a dream In the darkness and the chaos We followed our own rules Poured our souls into the wasteland And we fashioned something new You didn’t make it easy Lord knows it was rough Your streets were dark and sleazy But I couldn’t get enough My old New York My old New York My old New York How I long for you How I long for you They say that you’re a town that never can stand still And you’ll reinvent yourself for better or for ill But lately you’ve begun to look like any other place All the old haunts are forgotten Your streets covered in chains I know tomorrow you'll be different again But I can't help but feel I’m losing my best friend

flags fly, torn and tattered I only saw the view tongue-tied, as if it mattered what have we turned into? lost you, in the lights down first street seems like they barely shine deaf ears, did you lose the downbeat so numb from summer's wine did we forget to sink when we swim? I can feel your touch like a phantom limb maybe it was easier than it ought to be diving for pearls in a shallow sea June nights, you read my tea leaves always you leaned so close don't say time is precious soft as your breath of ghosts here come, call to caution can we recall the blood veins flow, open gushing can't you still taste the flood did we forget to sink when we swim? I can feel your touch like a phantom limb maybe it was easier than it ought to be diving for pearls in a shallow sea don't give up on me baby don't give up on me now don't give up don't give up don't give up

about

From AG:

"I have never been the biggest Ryan Adams fan, not because I didn’t enjoy what I heard - more like it never sucked me in. enough to make me a fan - even though tons of trusted people I work with LOVE HIM. A few weeks ago I was in Savannah and saw a local band playing a lot of Ryan’s songs, and it got me interested. I listened to a few records and am definitely more in tune to why so many of my respected friends / collaborators dig his stuff.

He seems to have a great sense of melody, lyrics and that great knack for creating songs and lyrics that stick with you. I’m not sure if he does a lot of co-writing, but imagine you were going to write a song to bring in to him to either sing or work on with you. I know he’s done a lot of different styles, so that doesn’t matter. Just include in your notes what your were going for and why you think it would be good for him."
