Local blues-rock legends, Luxuriant Sedans, are looking for new material, so I thought I'd use this week's challenge as an excuse to kick the tires on a new idea I'm working on for them. Fairly pedestrian song, but I do like the title and the main riff.
lyrics
couldn't stick around with last year's model
got a taste for something higher gauge
but something in the wiring's got you running cold
why you lock yourself up in that cage?
and now you drive that beat-up thing just like it's cursed
a hundred miles an hour in reverse
what makes you scared to hit the highway?
what makes you fear the open road?
what makes you think I'm gonna fade away
let all this friction's heat explode
you're gonna turn this Cadillac into a hearse
a hundred miles an hour in reverse
so I'll say this one more time for your sake
think hard on what you're 'bout to do
'fore you go jamming down that parking brake
don't strip your gears for someone who ain't
good enough for you
all this back-and-forth just makes it worse
a hundred miles an hour in reverse
and now you drive that beat-up thing just like it's cursed
a hundred miles an hour in reverse
