I think there's potentially hope for this basic idea, but as it stands, it's an undercooked melodramatic bit of silliness. This two-hour rule is tough!
lyrics
you measured prayer by the minute
And the sin by the pound
took denial to the limit
judged your saints by the sound
I was wondering whether you were
Waiting for a change of mind
All this time
Once we stood in common bonds
I used to be your brother
but I can’t stand here and watch you trade
one savior for another
once you found your heaven sent
now you just find it odd
you left your church behind you
just to build a cheaper god
and I was living in a different state
but you’d call and we’d hash it out
the gospel sworn we’d forged our fate
left nothing now but doubt
and we’d laugh about the good old days
and weep at what was left
and we’d argue if our years of grace
were a godsend or a theft
Once we stood in common bonds
I used to be your brother
but I can’t stand here and watch you trade
one savior for another
once you found your heaven sent
now you just find it odd
you left your church behind you
just to build a cheaper god
