It’s funny how words can change meaning over time
They can mean different things
In different parts of your life
A song can be mean love
It can mean desire
It can make you sad
And maybe later
Make you laugh
Tears of joy
Tears of rage
From the same set of words
The same page
It is spoken
It has meaning
And it moves and lives in a different part
Of your heart
What brought me tears
So serious at the time
Has moved me to laughter
Later on in my life
Brought a smile to another
Mournful day
Which in turn might spark a little joy
Further down the way
I found a key
Found a door
I opened up a room I’d
Never seen before
What was gone
Now overflows
Tears of love fill up
A different part of my heart
I found a word I had put on a shelf
Spoke it out loud all alone to myself
And a sense renewed meaning born again
And I understood the reason behind the roads
I had taken
In one word
In one moment
For a flash I understood and then It was gone
History
Love and sadness
Dark and light moved within
To a different part of my heart
