Kind of a rambling thing, but it's alright. I'd hoped to write another happy song, but this definitely isn't that. Though, I did my best to hide the grievance behind the shiny veneer of A major and pretty plagal cadences. The lyric is that crazy 13 syllable Tolkien meter I'm so fond of, so that was a fun thing. Also, just for shits and giggles I recorded this at 96kHz just to see if I could hear a difference from my usual 44.1. I can't. Enjoy!
Edit: Side note. I think this is a great poem, but a shit song. It was a definite learning experience.
lyrics
Strewn across the universe
Where the saints some Lord defend
Lives the broken will of angels
Hungry for the end
Playing dice the universe
Dispassionately sends
Love letters scented rose
On the backs of stellar winds
Earthly fools with painted words
And troubadour intents
Spin their wheels on lonely roads
Imagining fell sins
Writing poems for anyone
Whose interest half pretends
S’alright though the wretched show
Goes on despite laments
Meandering our poet tells
The moon of his grievance
She hangs just there without a care
Abandoning pretense
I tried to write a song for you
And all your floating friends
Your beacons are just too damn far
To reach before the end
This lamentation hides within
A clever keyed disguise
A hollow man with tepid words
Gives thanks to empty skies
Though from the stellar stuff, the dust
We got our sweet begins
Alone in black and cold we fall
To whimpering world ends
