I’m not sure how this will do. It was inspired by a line from the Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman movie “Far And Away”. It goes by quick but if you catch it, it’s funny. It’s where the wife hears glass breaking and asks the husband what it was. He claims,”it was a poor confused Robin that flew into a window pane”. She shouts back, “What a manufactured lie”. This song is based around the things someone will say to avoid trouble. Maybe that’s a good thing sometimes just to keep the peace. My 6 year old likes this one…I guess it could be a Disney scene. But it’s funny to hear the little one sing the chorus. Enjoy!
lyrics
A Manufactured Lie
I went down to the liquor cabinet
To get myself a drink
And I broke a glass when I went to pour
And quickly I had to think
My wife had heard the clatter
And she asked and I did say
A poor confused Robin
Flew into a window pane
A Manufactured Lie
A Manufactured Lie
There’s nothing better to calm/solve the qualm
A Manufactured Lie
I went down to the pub
And I got into a little scruff
My brain said I could go some more
But my face it had enough
When I finally got back home
My wife, she saw my scars
I told her I fell off my horse
And the ground hit my face, not my arse
A Manufactured Lie
A Manufactured Lie
There’s nothing better to calm/solve the qualm
A Manufactured Lie
(Trombone Quartet Solo)
Well the landlord came around
And I didn’t have the rent
I’d been down at the pub last night
And my money, well it got spent
I told him not to worry
I won the lottery and that’s no tale
The rent’s as good as in the bank
The check is in the mail
A Manufactured Lie
A Manufactured Lie
There’s nothing better to calm/solve the qualm
A Manufactured Lie
We have here this bright young lad
He doesn’t know what to do
He should be home but he’s stayed out late
He’s in marriage year number 2
Well take this bit of advice
From a man marriage year 39
There’s one sure thing that will keep the peace
Use this and it will be fine
A Manufactured Lie
A Manufactured Lie
There’s nothing better to calm/solve the qualm
A Manufactured Lie
