Man, I didn't want to write this song. An overwhelming majority of the time, my love and respect for the friends, family, and colleagues with whom I often fundamentally disagree is worth more than my need to tell them why I think I'm right and they're wrong. Not always, just mostly. But I didn't ask for this assignment, and I've got to honor it. I tried to be even-handed, even-tempered, and to focus on my own views rather than those of others, but I did find that the assignment was a bit rigged. Kinda like, "write about chupacabras, and it's okay to write about them, no matter what your personal beliefs about chupacabras are." But I did my best, and I hope that my Facebook friends count doesn't plummet too far tomorrow. Amen.
