What, me write a breakup song? Yeah, OK, I think I can do that.
Bringing the round to a close, sticking to my guns - under 2 hours (1:30, this week), with another one-mic/one-take demo. It's a bit of a by-the-numbers tune, but I'm not at all unhappy with it, given the restrictions.
lyrics
it don’t surprise me
that we weren’t built to last
it don’t surprise me
that we’ve been fading fast
we tied those knots so tight
as tight as ties that bind
I would’ve thought they’d
been harder to unwind
some old stars burn out their light
some just fade into the night
searched in vain for one last note
but an empty house was all she wrote
I guess I’m waiting
for the door that never slams
I’ll map it out in
charts and diagrams
I guess I’ll never know
how it all got sold so cheap
I guess I’m wondering
if you’re losing any sleep
some old stars burn out their light
some just fade into the night
searched in vain for one last note
but an empty house was all she wrote
