I put some thought into the idea of a muse. What is it that inspires me, that makes me want to write? And the bottom-line scenario is that it's that rare joy, the immense satisfaction that comes along once in a blue moon from writing a really good song, something that both moves me and that might resonate with listeners. So, the fickle lover in the song is just the personification of that elusive joy.
