So, I set out to work on an idea I've had for a while, and it's dark and difficult, full of a bit of personal turmoil. And instead, I wrote this, in about an hour. Yet another "honey, he don't deserve you" song, which for some reason comes very easy to me (could it possibly be the result of growing up the scrawny nerd who always watched the jerks get their way with girls who should know better?). So, it's not the best song I've ever written, but man, I had fun with this one. Sorry again for the relatively full production - I just can't pass up the opportunity to play drums! I'm an awful drummer, but I'm almost even happy with the drumming here ...
lyrics
you'd better park that Mustang
back in the garage
you don't wanna scratch that thing up
while your old man's out getting his
Swedish massage
you're a grown-up girl don't need
no one to tell you
what you need to do
but that summa bitch of yours
is gonna be the death of you
might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
they're closing the whole damn town
as white as your wedding gown
there's ice on the interstate
and honey, at any rate,
you might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
I think I had enough of the screaming
coming through my walls
screaming when he comes home
if he ever comes home at all
and then half an hour later
it's screaming again in two-part harmony
rolling like a river
just gonna lose itself in
someone else's sea
might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
they're closing the whole damn town
as white as your wedding gown
there's ice on the interstate
and honey, at any rate,
you might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
so face it, honey, he ain't coming home tonight
and you're better off alone
between the iced-out roads
and the strippers he's taken out on loan
got a frozen pizza and a decent box
of Chardonnay we could share
and we could toast who we could be
and we could toast the one who's never there
might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
they're closing the whole damn town
as white as your wedding gown
there's ice on the interstate
and honey, at any rate,
you might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
Dammit, honey, you don't wanna be a rag doll
something for the monkey wanna keep in his cage
not sure you even know my name but I know
I gotta get you out this pressure gage
might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
they're closing the whole damn town
as white as your wedding gown
there's ice on the interstate
and honey, at any rate,
you might as well come around
'cause baby it's coming down
