Need to get away from the piano...too many piano songs lately! Started with the idea in the chorus on the phone earlier in the week. Explored a bit in trying to force a way into different chords. Came up with the verse idea, already had the chorus and just forced a piece to knit them together. Lyrically, it was a challenge in some spots but once it was repeated a few times, it became easy to eliminate the pronouns and still be in first person. One might notice there are no pronouns in this paragraph!
lyrics
Balloons
Assembly lines with machinery
As far as the eye can see
Pouring oil on the parts that move
And making sure it all runs smooth
Mixing and stirring the dye
Creating colors that fly
Balloons that are made today
Will celebrate
Then fly away
One by one, day by day
Gone to play
So far away
Sitting for a while, then standing at the line
Changing colors from time to time
This has to be the best job around
In this lonely town
Shipping out the ability
To carry smiles on a string
Balloons that are made today
Will celebrate
Then fly away
One by one, day by day
Gone to play
So far away
SOLO (Inject your own!)
Can’t let the line run too slow
So many places to go
Balloons that are made today
Will celebrate
Then fly away
One by one, day by day
Gone to play
Balloons that are made today
Will celebrate
Then fly away
One by one, day by day
Gone to play
So far away
