This was for Steve's assignment - all minor chords, with narrative. Fairly pedestrian piece of torch song, combined with a cryptic narrative. Had plenty of time this week for once, so I really had no excuse. Just goes to show … well, I dunno what. Too much turkey and celebrating, I guess.
lyrics
is it possible that you'd love me?
is it possible that you'd stay?
you came down here from the lakeshore
with the wind whipping round your cabriolet
and I know I'm not the reason
though I know I've played my part
and it's tantamount to treason
to watch you tear us apart
breaking my heart to see you struggle
all that you believe you can save
you've been building up a head of steam
now you're breaking like a wave
you came through on a Wednesday
by Friday you were gone
I somehow knew that this mad child's play
was the hardest thing you'd ever done
and now you've left behind the city
I don't suppose we'll meet again
and I'll search for eyes so pretty
reflected in some girl's face now and then
breaking my heart to see you struggle
all that you believe you can save
you've been building up a head of steam
now you're breaking like a wave
