Got a good start on the basic groove/track this week, but quickly ran out of time to flesh it out. As usual, the lyrics and horns should be taken with a large grain of sand. I think the bones are fairly solid, but it'll need a pretty good revamping, I think.
lyrics
there was a time you made me feel so weak
There was a time when I could barely speak
I’d never seen a heart so warm and true
What was I supposed to do?
You sang like angels and you walked with grace
How could I ever hope to leave a trace
I kept my counsel when the day was done
Sank my chances in the evening sun
Flow on, old muddy waters
To the only sea you ever knew
Time flows, opened my eyes
Led me straight on back to you
you don’t believe me
That I’d give you my all
Do my eyes deceive me
You gonna put up this wall
You wanna leave me
I Won’t come when you call
I promise I can pass that test
I’m gonna bring you my best
So now the day breaks, and I’ve seen the light
We’ve gone to color from the black and white
You had your doubts if I was in the game
But my intentions are as true as my aim
Flow on, old muddy waters
To the only sea you ever knew
Time flows, opened my eyes
Led me straight on back to you
you don’t believe me
That I’d give you my all
Do my eyes deceive me
You gonna put up this wall
You wanna leave me
I Won’t come when you call
I promise I can pass that test
I’m gonna bring you my best
