lyrics
Traveling down the canyon road to get some rattlesnake bones
Every step is an ordeal
No escape from the furious sun, so he wished he was done
But he had get his grandfather healed
The sun is high and the water low
You take a chance every time you go
You need to be brave to make the journey
to find healing in the canyon snow
The snake was inclined to be kind
So he offered the boy a trade
“I can show you the herbs for healing superb
If you just sing me a serenade”
The boy raised his voice for he had no choice
The wind carried his song
He sang of the grace in his grandfather’s face
Rattlesnake hummed along
The sun is high and the water low
You take a chance every time you go
You need to be brave to make the journey
to find healing in the canyon snow
Grandfather learned when he returned
How rattlesnake had made a deal
No more fear when they are near
a new trust now was sealed
