This round, I have been and intend to continue to work on material for a possible new project. I've been working on material for this for a long time. I feel like I've established a vibe, an aesthetic, but I haven't really nailed down much strong material. This week continues that tradition. I worked hard earlier in the week to create a beat, a riff, a mood, but once again, I ran out of time to fine-tune melodies and lyrics. I think I'm at the point where I've got a lot of raw material, but I need to buckle down and work on hooks and lyrics to make this stuff really come to life.
The original beat inspiration was just a fast Tamla beat. Pick your poison. I'll submit this, but it could have been a thousand songs: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnWebXmSYgQ
lyrics
All you wanted was a martyr’s badge
To drown in sweet vermouth
But I can only give you so much
And the line is becoming clear
Maybe you just like the drama
The poison in the atmosphere
Cold suspicion
No matter what I say
you told your fiction
I’ll never get away
Can’t ever get away
You could find a rival
On a desert isle
You can sense a motive
In the Dalai Lama’s smile
But I’ve been rank and file, girl
I never stepped on you
You can think about it
I’ve got other things to do
Cold suspicion
No matter what I say
you told your fiction
I’ll never get away
Can’t ever get away
