Well, once again, I put lots of time into the demo that I could have more fruitfully used to work on lyrics, but c'est la vie. I think this one has some good bones for what I'm doing this round, which is a little bit more Doug-by-the-numbers kind of thing. A little singer-songwritery, with just enough Britpop thrown in. Dunno if it's a keeper, but it's definitely something I'll come back to.
For the record, although I really didn't pursue my lyric concept very far (yet), I thought it was amusing that "cornflower blue" is the basis of a popular old German folk song based on the idea that the German "blau" can carry the connotation of "drunk," and the cornflower shade is a somewhat extreme hue, so the song speaks of someone being extremely drunk.
