So, I feel like I am taking a risk and moving this in a very different direction while still pulling lyrical ideas from each of the previous contributors. My studio has been neglected for a while and I need to put it back together so this track was done on my phone. I'll get that fixed for the next time around.
I like where Tommy was headed with this, and interestingly enough in his version, I first thought he said, "We were made to be alone" and it got me in a certain headspace that I couldn't shake, so I sort of leaned into that. Plus it's Halloween eve so something darker in tone sort of felt right for this version.
I'm playing in an alt tuning, that tuning is D-A-D-D-A-D - because its what my guitar was in when I picked it up (I love writing in alt tunings).
lyrics
V1
I've been living lonely
With a one-track mind
There's no room for 'us'
Now that our love has died
oh
I've been counting petals
I've been counting white lies
Like waking to realize
I was never quite alive
PC
I can not regret
Living out on the ledge
When I think of your smile
I get to my edge
CH
We weren't made to be alone
But I have learned to live on my own
Just a blur of eyes in a storm
Our bodies communed once, our bodies were warm
V2
That old killer of hearts
Makes me forget
That I ever knew
How to connect
oh
Stranded here
In a house on a street
Neighbors glance and they nod
But don't talk when they meet
PC
I can not regret
Living out on the ledge
When I think of your smile
I get to my edge
CH
We weren't made to be alone
But I have learned to live on my own
Just a blur of eyes in a storm
Our bodies communed once, our bodies were warm
