I think I like this one. Straight up, no curves, just straight pop. Lots of lyric work to do, of course. No real drummers were harmed in the making of this track, for once.
lyrics
Are you feeling like a walk or a run?
are you happy just to lie in the sun
Some days it’s a given
you chalk it up to living
On stun
when the fighter’s given up on the fight
what she sees when she looks up in the light
They don’t give you any warning
From morn to miss the mourning
So bright
Oh the devil’s in the details
All those shells that she sells
We know
she’ll run when she’s got rhythm
Tonight’s another prison
And so she’ll close her eyes again
Starts with nails and ends with numb
Held in place with chewing gum
She’ll stay where she started from
And sing herself to sleep
Once upon a warning bell
a pit stop on the road to hell
But she won’t hear your fare-thee-well
Lost in dreams so deep
Took the long way down to Parallel Street
Just to see the pavement under my feet
Oh the good days lay ahead
We will find that fountainhead
Where it flows
So I’ll turn off that old angry alarm
Leave her be til she won’t do herself harm
We can walk it off together
In fairer kinds of weather
She’ll charm me again
Oh the devil’s in the details
All those shells that she sells
We know
she’ll run when she’s got rhythm
Tonight’s another prison
And so she’ll close her eyes again
Starts with nails and ends with numb
Held in place with chewing gum
She’ll stay where she started from
And sing herself to sleep
Once upon a warning bell
a pit stop on the road to hell
But she won’t hear your fare-thee-well
Lost in dreams so deep
We’ll strike while we’re stronger
And we’ll strain where we’ve been struck
So rest while you can now
We’ll be back with any luck
