Time has ravaged me no more
Walked me through that golden door
Standing still my love for you
Monument of crystal blue

Children do, they carry fire
Fates they spin their fragile wire
When I’m gone like Autumn leaves
Laid to rest ‘neath cherry trees

Hope the kids will face their lives
Come the water’s rising tides
Always tried to do my best
I admit I’ve done far less

Lost am I just like you too
No one there to see us through
Existential shit aside
Do appreciate the quiet

Age affords a few small perks
Knowing how and when to work
Youth is wasted on the young
Like a cool breeze, Springtime sun

Feelin’ sorry for myself
Undeserving of my wealth
Lotta weight for forty-two
Wouldn’t make it without you

Feel my death in fevered waves
Penance for my Godless days
Yet those mem’ries I stand by
To repent would be a lie

What are we but sums of past
Only good as lessons last
Sure, there are the friends we meet
Loving faces, fleeting sweet

Soldier through the best I can
Doubt it’s this to do me in
Though I’m sick I’ll see us through
In my way take care of you

Vices, they still knot my noose
Fancy free and too footloose
Still, I’ve got a silly side
Always game for one more ride

Seems for now my heart does beat
Though I’m weak I’m on my feet
Time of dying I can’t say
But it ain’t gon’ be today
