An earnest attempt at addressing a big broad universal emotion, while also hitting the small-huge-small-huge dynamics that I associate with certain pop hits. I don't think this would satisfy my impatient hit-hungry label heads, but I am glad I wrote it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just like the first week, no bridge/third chorus because I didn't have time (busy week so I started writing this at half-past midnight...)
Also slightly inspired by the outdoor gigs I've been playing lately, where the sun has over-blessed my skin. Remember your SPF 30, friends.
lyrics
-LYRICS-
Hadn’t felt a welcome touch in far too long, far too long
Thought that I was going under too far gone, too far gone
Had to fight when my thoughts got louder and
I barely made it out of it
But I made it, yes I did
But I made it
[CHORUS]
I’ve been waiting for the sun to bless my skin
I finally feel alive again
I’ve been praying for the world to let me in
I finally feel like I can win
Found a reason for all the words of hope
I’d been whispering in darkness all alone
Now the light’s coming in, ‘cause
I finally feel alive again
Hadn’t heard a word of love in longer than I could stand
All that I was dreaming of just slipped like sand through my hands
In the night, demons keep on taunting me
I always think they’re on to me
But they’re faking, every time
‘Cause I always make it
