So, I'm at the Garage tonight. Jerry shows up after my set. "I'm out of town for the XTC show all day tomorrow, and I just picked up a second out-of-town show on Sunday. I've already written my song, but I dunno when I'm gonna be able to record it," I say. "Just upload your demo," he says. "The one where I'm in the kitchen, mapping it out onto the iPad, while Sophie is asking me about dinner in the background?" Fine. I'm up to the challenge. Here you go; unedited demo-style.

I really intended to do something raw this week; something inbetween Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakum, with my pals from Hayride Suicide as my guiding light. I came up with the title for this one fast and was shocked when no searches turned up anything similar to it. Wrote the rest of the song in about 10 minutes. Molly comes in and says "that doesn't sound very country; it sounds like a typical sad Doug breakup song!" Yeah, probably. If I could have demo'ed it properly, I would have accentuated the twang. As it is, it's definitely a little more folk/Americana. So sue me.
