No originality here but it was fun to make an upbeat song with a bright chorus. This was done as a quick throwaway after I couldn't land the one I was trying to write this week. Feels good to make a song again after a long break!
lyrics
A shy kid slips like a ghost onto the L train
She’s got a gold ring burning a hole in her pocket
The slight of hand came as easy as a hand shake
Now she’s headed up town to find a place where she can hock it
Ms Mirabelle made of a million contradictions
They’re sewn right into the fabric of her heart
Her stolen charms shine as bright as any birthright
She’s wound so tight that she’s bound to come apart
Everyone is here tonight
Everyone is here for you
Everybody loves you
Like i do
Can you see you the fireworks
Can you hear the trumpets too
There are galaxies in bloom tonight
Inside of you
Stage craft takes further than she meant to go
Now the bright lights make her want to disappear
While the vampires circle round her wearing thin smiles
Sucking all of the oxygen out of the air
A silk screen show a version of serenity
It’s bloodless, all the shades of brown and green
But out there she can feel the pressure rising
The tension and release turning the gears of the machine
Everyone is here tonight
Everyone is here for you
Everybody loves you
Like i do
Can you see you the fireworks
Can you hear the trumpets too
There’s a galaxy in bloom tonight
Inside of you
