I thought this was a great topic and spent a lot of the week reflecting on the different ways this song could go. Thinking about seeing a lot family this past week was especially inspiring. After an unfortunate stomach bug really eating into my already hectic schedule this week, I sort of settled with one idea to expand on late Sunday night.
lyrics
“Done”
Started singing "swinging" on a stool at Simmons store
People gave me quarters, so I'd keep coming back for more
Lying in my bedroom with my finger on record
Waiting for my jam after the ads for super stores
Borrowed my mamas mower so I could mow some yards
started saving dollars with the quarters in the jar
soon I had my hands on one of them electric guitars
fingers trying hard to build a repertoire
Didn't take too long and I was playing in a band
power chords and bar room floors make the best of friends
never thought that it could come ever to an end
but I was young and when it did I started again
Weeks started passing like days did a long time ago
with new seeds planted in sunshine beginning to grow
things came together the way that water likes to flow
had one of the best times of my life down at the Lawrence Joel.
Months start passing like weeks once did when I was a kid
hangovers linger longer like pain embodied
Circumstances change as the years place their bids
sometimes simply someone can't control their id
let's just say I've started to play anything under the sun
I can handle just for some dollars to put in the get-out-of-debt fund
passion will always have me playing for my one in a million
In spite of age I'll always be a dreamer until the day I'm done
