This past Saturday began with an hour and a half ukulele class (10:30am-Noon). Then, I loaded gear for a gig later that night. Taught another hour lesson. Tuned two pianos right after that and drove to Winston for a 10pm-1am gig. On the way home from the gig, one of our vehicles needed a tow. Man. I was beat. And, had a quarterly ukulele concert on Sunday with about 50 players. It was trying to get a smile on my face. My wife Gin and the ukulele players definitely were able to put a smile on my face and keep me going. I even managed to write a song about positive, personal change,
lyrics
Broke down old on the side of the road
Miles and miles from a humble abode
Twenty degrees and a lack of sleep
Wearing thin, this living the dream
“Stick a fork in me, I’m done”
You say, “Come on it’s just begun”
You make me strong when I am weak
Bring a smile right out of me
Unopened mail, knowing it’s sad
Paying my dues right along with the tab
Clutter and trash vanish into a bag
Rest on the Rest I’ve already had
“Stick a fork in me, I’m done”
You say, “Come on it’s just begun”
You make me strong when I am weak
Bring a smile right out of me
When these bones are cold and tired
You grab some wood and stoke the fire
Take the thunder and the rain
Call for sun to shine out again
