I wrote this song on 3/15/20 and recorded a version of it at 2:55am after waking up from an apparent late-night nap. I wrote it with MAUI in mind - Mount Airy Ukulele Invasion - and rearranged/added to it over the last few weeks.
I have also recorded instructional videos for all of the parts. My wife, Gin and I have even filmed an extremely modest, quarantine-fun filled video for this one, which I am using to learn more about the video making process.
Since it really fits this week's assignment, it seemed like a good time to post the progress.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Be kind, courteous, stay calm the storm is yet to come
But we, will make it through, all in what we do
Stay close, curious and wise I hope you’ll see the light
It’s going to take some time, let’s spend it right
Chorus 1:
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together
Gotta hold on to the ones you love
Verse 2:
May peace, charity and love define what we become
As one, we’re making sense, nothing on the fence
Take down, the walls that we erect it’s time to redirect
All our energy, possibilities
Chorus 2:
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together
Gotta hold on to the ones you love
Bridge:
I feel, that hope is on the way We will, survive another day
Be still, and wash your hands clean
Chorus 3:
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together
Gotta hold on to the ones you love
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together, gotta
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together, gotta
Hold on to the ones you love even if it means we can’t be together, gotta
Hold on to the ones you love
