First of all, I am so glad to be back here. This is the first song I've completed in about 11 months. At the end of the day, I am just glad for that alone.
I started a couple of song ideas this week - definitely geared toward imagery more associated with being on a boat than this one. However, this song came out to me earlier today, in B, at about double the BPMs. I figure if a song writes itself essentially, I'll go with that.
This is an Iphone take from the porch complete with my dog, Willie, barking at a moth and passing cars on the bridge of the song; after a couple of drinks, down a half step and again, about half the speed.
"I'd like to think if I were on a boat, I'd be drinking some beers." - Jack Handy
Not really. Jack Handy had some truly deep thoughts.
lyrics
“Let Me Ride”
Well the days seem like hours
But the weeks feel like years
It's all moving faster
Cruise stuck in high gear
Even though I like it
Wouldn't change a single thing
'Cept I would topple mountains
Just to hear you sing my name
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
One more time
Don't think that I don't want you
Just because I'm out of sight
You're always on my mind
Morning, day, noon and night
Let me whisper in your ear
I promise you'll believe
I need to bask in your beauty
like the air I breathe
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
One more time
I could find a reason just to call you on the phone
Hear that sweet sound of a simple hello
I'd take away your worries, leave it all up to me
I beg with all my heart, can't you hear my plea?
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
One more time
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
Baby just let me ride
One more time
