One night this week, I was spewing inspiration; one of those rare moments. Late Sunday night, I tried putting together two of my favorites together. A verse and a chorus. They just did not for together, regardless of what I tried.
Seven minutes to deadline, I just recorded the first thing that came out; only keeping the verse lyrics from all of my efforts. This music and the chorus lyrics was all a one-take Hail Mary. Maybe I’ll get to make something else out of those other riffs another time.
lyrics
Lift me up
Bring us out of this mess
And I promise that I’ll always be good
Empty streets and empty seats
Bars and restaurants
Roads are clear, silence falls
On the bleeding hearts
Life’s about the journey anyways
Even sitting still
Life’s about the journey anyways
Can’t be too far gone
Dangled hope, console, cope
Weather storm
Change is gone, on its way
Riding different boats
People shouting with their fingertips
Calling out the lies
Pointing fingers like they know the tricks
From every side
Lift me up
Bring us out of this mess
And I promise that I’ll always be good
