I knew this was going to be a fun assignment, but I've been pretty serious lately about coming up with songs I could actually use within the context of one of my various bands. That was a tough one for this assignment. I decided that the slow-burn 6/8 blues groove was the closest approach of any of the early AC/DC stuff to anything I might actually use. Which is kind of a cheat, since I can only find a couple of examples ("Night Prowler," for instance) of that rhythm on the Bon-era albums, but I used it anyway. Not sure that this is something I'll ever use, after all, but it was definitely fun to do. Wish I had a Gretsch or an SG, but I made do. Clay Howard's Hiwatt Lead 20 sounded great!
lyrics
I've been bad
never treated you like you should be
cut you down
when you tried to get closer to me
that was then
now I know no one gets it for free
and I want one more time
gonna pay for my crime
and show you what I mean
to the left, to the right
gonna bring it home tonight
for the cuts, for the sin
gonna bring you in again
from the day to the night
to the break of the morning's light
I'm gonna make it right this time
broke you down
made me feel like a bigger man
watched you drown
won't reach out just to lend you a hand
now I'm done
I was blind as a man can be
but I've come to my senses
I've got no defenses
and I'm begging, baby, please
to the left, to the right
gonna bring it home tonight
for the cuts, for the sin
gonna bring you in again
from the day to the night
to the break of the morning's light
I'm gonna make it right this time
