This so isn't my "sweetspot" although I feel like over the course of this group I have written some more rootsy songs. Anyway, tough week and think I wrote an Indigo girls song instead - sure as hell ain't Merle Haggard. Oh well, can't win em all - live to "write" another day.
lyrics
Shining like a streetlight on Lennox avenue
Bring a smile to my face each time I look at you
Count my stars the ones I see and as the sunlight goes
Make my day my Darlin, Harlem rose
Harlem rose (chorus)
Sing my song, she hums along
Picture perfect tone
Stole my heart my darling harlem rose
Sing just like a bluebird sweet as sugar too
Pretty as the promenade always loved that view
Every minute we’re apart
Sweat rolls down my nose
Make my life my darling Harlem rose
Harlem rose (chorus)
Sing my song, she hums along
Picture perfect tone
Stole my heart my darling harlem rose
Bridge
Follow you if you follow me
In my heart know we’re so lucky
I count the blessings touch my toes, promises
Make my life my darling Harlem rose
