All I can say is I lost a few hours worth of work screwing around on GarageBand, so I just recorded this live take for a song I wrote this morning. The results aren't pretty, but I don't think the song is hopeless...my career as studio engineer may be.
lyrics
I was a Buccaneer
In a schooner off Tortuga back in 1683
Never felt a tear nor fear
I was tan, I was, handsome, I was rich, and I was free
I was the high priestess
For those seeking the counsel of the god of sun and light
I was educated and well read
Showered with respect, gifts, and sacrifice
I’ve done it all; oh, I’ve done it all
Oh, there’s only one life where I wanna be
I’d trade eternity
Just to land
In this moment, holding your hand
I was a grizzly bear
Long before white poachers ever heard about the West
Slept all winter long but in the summer had buffets of salmon and dominion above the rest
I was a Labrador
Belonged to a boy who wore a fireman hat
Slept on a human bed,
After eating table scraps, slept happy and fat
I’ve done it all; oh, I’ve done it all
Oh, there’s only one life where I wanna be
I’d trade eternity
Just to land
In this moment, holding your hand
I’ve been sweating all night
Wondering if this has been going alright
Then your hand brushes mine
And every life I’ve lived flashes before my eyes…
Oh, there’s only one life where I wanna be
I’d trade eternity
Just to land
In this moment, holding your hand
