Like most of my songs - these lyrics are first draft. I never spend much time on lyrics at all (as I'm sure you can probably tell) so these are somewhat unconscious.
It's a dark song. There's a lot of people out there that are tolerating their lives. The chorus lyric can be interpreted many ways but my thought is that despite the bad, the subject is willing to accept it and vows that he will never leave and fears being alone without their companion.
lyrics
I’ll Never Be Alone
Life begins most every day
With a cup of I’m still here today
Two lumps and a touch of cream of yesterday
You and I just co-exist
And we’ve given our dreams to the kids
And we stand our ground to whatever comes what may
The radio plays on and on
A song that’s on my mind
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone without you
Doctor gave some pills to take
They get harder to swallow everyday
I just don’t know which one you I’ll see
Maybe we’ll take a break today
From breakin’ hearts and plates and things
We’ll head on out and go our separate ways
The radio plays on and on
A song that’s on my mind
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone without you
Won’t go to bed ‘til it’s real late
You’ll pretend to sleep as I masturbate
I’ll think of how to make it another day
Routine settles in for good
We accept that it’s well understood
That we may not find a way to work it out
The radio plays on and on
A song that’s on my mind
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone
I’ll never be alone without you
