Sticking with the soul-ishness this week. Might just have to compile some of these types of songs of mine and start a new band one day … The tough thing about writing this sort of song is that it seems that this style is geared towards facilitating performance, not flexing songwriting muscles. Leaning on cliches a little bit seems to be a necessary evil to let the singer do some work. To paraphrase Phil Collins (complaining about having to sing the old Genesis prog stuff), it's hard to really emote soulfully when you're singing about elves and monstrous man-eating plants. So this is a bit workmanlike. Still a lot of fun to sing!
lyrics
I'm in a tight spot
Everytime you touch me
Everytime you tell me
That you're mine
It's like a cold freeze
Anytime you want me
Anywhere you whisper
Those sweet lies
I'm in a tight spot
And someday, you won't find me
Anymore
I walk the streets like a man that's haunted and praying
I thought you knew what I needed, what I wanted what I'm sayin'
But you come and you go
Like the smoke from a fire
Try to hold on to you
But your spark's flying higher
And the moment I feel that you're
Back in my arms ...
Well you're gone, you're gone
I'm in a tight spot
Everytime you touch me
Everytime you tell me
That you're mine
It's like a cold freeze
Anytime you want me
Anywhere you whisper
Those sweet lies
I'm in a tight spot
And someday, you won't find me
Anymore
I sit alone in my room just a waiting for a sign
It's every second alone that I'm hating all this heart of mine
And they say there's no pain
Then it ain't desire
Wanna melt into you
Like a chord in a choir
But the moment I feel that you're back in my arms ...
Well you're gone, you're gone
I'm in a tight spot
Everytime you touch me
Everytime you tell me
That you're mine
It's like a cold freeze
Anytime you want me
Anywhere you whisper
Those sweet lies
I'm in a tight spot
And someday, you won't find me
Anymore
You don't know how I want
Wanna tell you to go
Get the hell out
But just when i'm doing fine
You come a'knocking
Lord, how I sell myself out
And they say there's no pain
Then it ain't desire
Wanna melt into you
Like a chord in a choir
But the moment I feel that you're back in my arms ...
Well you're gone, you're gone
I'm in a tight spot
Everytime you touch me
Everytime you tell me
That you're mine
It's like a cold freeze
Anytime you want me
Anywhere you whisper
Those sweet lies
I'm in a tight spot
And someday, you won't find me
Anymore
