Despite the lo-fi-ness here (my studio computer is in the shop, so this is just a one-take Voice Memo recording), this is another attempt at a possible tune for the upcoming project with Mitchell and Hannah and Eddie. Aside from the whole shoegaze thing, this week, Mitchell gave me the directive to try to think of VU & Nico, and write something SUPER simple, with a blissful yet slightly melancholy bent. And with our assignment to write a story that happens in a room, I just thought about Mitchell and Hannah, stuck in their apartment on a snow day, with the perfect excuse to do nothing.
lyrics
in my room
half-light gloom
and we’re not
coming up for air
the sun did rise
the sunlight dies
and we’re not
going anywhere
four walls
wood beams
no calls
all dreams
stay still
breathe slow
clouds spill
first snow
here inside my room
yesterday
lost my way
felt my sorrows
run to rust
snow falls deep
the city sleeps
and all our plans
just fade to dust
four walls
wood beams
no calls
all dreams
stay still
breathe slow
clouds spill
first snow
here inside my room
