My song for this week meets Tyler's criteria of taking a novel approach. I always write songs with a guitar in my hands, working out the music and lyrics together, and most of my effort goes into getting the lyrics right. This time I started by building the track in my DAW, saving the lyrics and vocal melody for the end. I also decided not to labor over the lyrics, but to try more of an automatic approach, basically free styling them into the mic as the track played. While I am not proud of these lyrics, I do think they make sense with the character and the production sound. The music gets to tell the story as much as the singer, and almost seems to have a better understanding of the situation than he does. It was fun to take a different approach.
lyrics
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle can you
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle of it all
I know it's been crazy lately and I'm sorry
I will wait here for you
Don't we have something baby
Did we have something baby?
Don't we have something baby
Did we have something real?
Won't you...
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle
The middle of it all
One more time
Don't tell me
I let it
All go
For nothing
Don't tell me
Don't tell me
Just meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me in the middle baby
Meet me one more time
