So close ... I ALMOST wrote a song this week. Got started early, had a few raw ideas to choose from; I picked a basic idea I liked. Came up with a title, a concept, a hook that I liked ... and then ran out of time on the weekend. Still, this is closer to an actual song than anything I've submitted in quite a while, so I'm at least happy about that.
lyrics
these worn-out clothes
the fuse burns faster down as it goes
ungrateful prayers
the luxury of choosing to care
and you thought you’d wait
’til you found your fate
and the gods bestowed
your golden road
i caught a scent on the wind
brought me to mind
a letter she sent
a sinner so blind
who could’ve seen
all that she’d mean
lost her in the white pines
no one asked
no one cares how your days are passed
so, what you think?
all goes by in less than a blink
did you hope for more
calling ship to shore
never found your war
please, don’t spill your drink
i caught a scent on the wind
brought me to mind
a letter she sent
a sinner so blind
who could’ve seen
all that she’d mean
lost her in the white pines
