about
Jerry's sad song was not sad enough for me. I am still struggling with the nasty cold and sang about 20 versions of this song, alternating phrasing, speeding up, slowing down, changing keys... I look forward to recording with one of you some day... with all your fancy microphones, knobs, buttons, and faders.
lyrics
The Gulf Of Mexico - Jerry Chapman / Jason LeVasseur
77 and sun predicted for Monday
We’re leaving on Sunday, I guess that we’ll miss it again
Point the car North to Ohio in cold February
Came South to fix it - don’t know now if we’re even friends
Thought a vacation would take us away from the sorrow
of losing our baby - we’re looking for sunshine again
The rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
But we're shivering and we're soaked - we spent Valentines on the coast
They said rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
but you’re shivering and you’re soaked and i don’t want you to go
I'll drive while you're sleeping - my mind s spinning in circles
i hope you dream that I am the singer in your favorite band
A bear on the shelf behind bars at the shop on that island
watched us though windows and then we were yelling again
The rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
But we're shivering and we're soaked - we spent Valentines on the coast
They said rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
but you’re shivering and you’re soaked and i don’t want you to go
We'll be alright if I could figure out how to rewind
we should have never left Ohio
The future looks bright if I just close my eyes
and learn to forget about us
The rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
But we're shivering and we're soaked - we spent Valentines on the coast
They said rain, it never falls on the Gulf of Mexico
but I'm losing and I’m lost and I don’t want to go home
yeah, I'm losing and I’m lost and I don’t want to be alone
