Hibrunchies!

Coco, an imprisoned gang member and “hermano” in the notorious Mexican drug cartel, “Los Vatos Locos” (The Crazy Dudes) has an epiphany while working in the kitchen of the federal prison in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Upon his release he wants to open his own restaurant on Cape Cod.

He buys a lottery ticket on his first day out and wins five million dollars. With this, he can see his dream restaurant come true. His new joint is a special place that celebrates the Japanese gangs with whom he used to battle in California as well as the wealthy Boston suburbanites he despised for their love of “brunch”. So he combines the two things he hated the most to prove to the world that rehabilitation is possible. Love wins over hate. Coco’s new place is called, “Hibrunchies!”, a hibachi breakfast joint!

In the opening scene of the show we are given the story (from prison, to lottery, to building the restaurant) and we are introduced to the three lead cooks, also Mexican ex-cons. It becomes the most popular restaurant on “The Cape” (lots of retired Asian lobster fishermen and white wives of wealthy yacht owners).

The other lead role is played by Jon, the effeminate “lead window dresser” from the Pottery Barn who has a house on "The Cape", and is always there on vacation. Always. Every episode. Jon enters each episode after the first commercial break. We know he arrives because everyone turns towards the door and says, "Hola Jon"!

The show follows the cooks’ banter with each other, with their customers, and with Jon (who becomes a fixture at the restaurant - similar to “Norm” in Cheers… except that Jon is not at all like Norm).

Come on in and watch rehabilitated ex-cons play with knives, crack jokes, crack eggs, and gently butt heads with each other.

It’s time for laughter, it’s time for love, it’s time for community, it’s time for “Hibrunchies!”
