Man, we loved Halloween at our old Main Street house (where I lived for over 4 years). Literally thousands of kids would roam the 1/4 mile stretch of Main Street in front of our house. It cost a small fortune in candy, but was totally worth it.
A few fun facts...
Yes, we had a tombstone in our backyard (the house was built in 1900).
Yes, the folks across the street spent the entire month of October making a legit haunted house.
Yes, we watched a 6-year-old & her mom play chicken with a pick-up truck. They lost (but were ok).
Coolest costume I saw was a girl dressed as Amelia Earhart.
lyrics
V1:
A quarter mile stretch
Our candy is the best
Send them in, send them in
-------
You knew we would run out
Five or six times now
But send them in, send them in
Chorus:
But you can't outrace the daylight
In black, from head to toe
When pick up trucks meet six-year-olds
It's time to stop the show
V2:
A real live haunted house
In case you have your doubts
Go on in, go on in
-------
Amelia in a box
No need to pick our locks
Come on in, come on in
Chorus:
But you can't outrace the daylight
In black, from head to toe
When pick up trucks meet six-year-olds
It's time to stop the show
V3:
We'll drink the wine next door
Cross the lawn for more
Where ya been, where ya been
-------
A grave in our backyard
The vines, they try too hard
To hold them in, hold them in
Chorus:
But you can't outrace the daylight
In black, from head to toe
When pick up trucks meet six-year-olds
It's time to stop the show
