I suppose this doesn't sound unlike a lot of the stuff I write, but it is definitely an intentional homage to one individual (notice the reference to Karen, and the mention of Jesus in the 2nd verse).
lyrics
Boston is glowing in the springtime and magic in the winter
Lost worlds and paradise, in the meantime, will last until September
And all those little things you do keep me following you
Through the city streets, the boulevards & the avenues
And Karen, I will care for you when the sky is blue
But when our world turns grey, I won't run away
My Jesus looks down from the skyline, and the Staten Island Ferry
All the kings and all the clowns will bide their time, at least 'til January
And all those little things you do keep me following you
Through the city streets, the boulevards & the avenues
And Karen, I will care for you when the sky is blue
But when our world turns grey, I won't run away
- cue the orchestra -
That sweet sound keeps running through my mind like the train that takes me southbound
You run around enough and you will find your world becomes a ghost town
And all those little things you do keep me following you
Through the city streets, the boulevards & the avenues
And Karen, I will care for you when the sky is blue
But when our world turns grey, I won't run away
